Affordability is still one of the biggest barriers to going to college and completing the FAFSA is the critical first step in making college more affordable.
Each year, Florida students leave $300 million on the table by not completing the FAFSA. That is free Pell Grant money they would have qualified for had they completed the FAFSA. For many students, that may keep them from attending college.
While Florida ranks 5th in the nation in terms of the number of high school seniors who are Pell Grant eligible, it ranks 48th in terms of FAFSA completion. (FCAN analysis of US Department of Education data)
